For a while, we've had an room on an IRC server to discuss poker, watch others play poker, and just have a good time. Many have been sweating others during this great run of tournament wins we've had recently through the IRC Chatroom.

With the help from the IRC server's administrator, we've recently gotten a webclient set up on site, so you don't need any sort of program to access other ITHers away from the board.

To access the IRC Chatroom, you can either click on "IRC Forum Chat" from the top menu bar, or click on the link below.

okay, so how does this work?

After clicking on the link type in the name you want to be displayed when you say somethin example 'fatshaft' then hit connect.

you will now be presented with a chat room screen down the right hand side is a list of users for example "sutd_jock".

To chat with others in a group simply type in what you want in the chat box and hit enter.

To chat privately with a member double click on their name on the right hand side and a new window will open up allowing to send PM's for whatever your imagination can dream of .

For those still wanting to use Trillian/IRC instead of the web-based front end you can. You just have to replace the server name with irc.gentoo.se & the port is 6667.

While the web-based version is a great idea, it's not so great when you want to be on IRC & multitable/sweat a couple of ITHer's playing MTT's (the IRC window being much smaller).

agreed, I tried IRC and gave up, this is much better, think my work firewall blocked it ealier SJ, it's a piece of piss to use

This is great. A wrestling forum I frequent does this as well, and the chatrooms run beautifully. I look foward to stopping in.

Anyone who uses mIRC for the chatroom may wish to use IxCam!

It works for Stars and Party, and is basically like a holecam. It'll paste your cards into the chatroom.
