Full Tilt's operating licence suspended

Postby superwomble » Jun 29 2011

http://www.pokerplayer.co.uk/news/lates ... ended.html

Full Tilt has been forced to halt all operations within Alderney with immediate effect after the Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC) announced the suspension of Full Tilt’s operating licence.

According to a statement released by the AGCC this morning, “The decision to suspend these licenses follows a special investigation prompted by the indictments unsealed by US Attorney General’s Office in the Southern District of New York on 15th April 2011, during which grounds were found to indicate that these licensees and their business associates were operating contrary to Alderney legislation."

At the time of writing, Full Tilt servers are inaccessible to UK players, but it remains to be seen whether European operations are down completely, with the site apparently undergoing 'Scheduled Maintenance' according to www.fulltiltpoker.com.

I'm at work so can't check this, but looks like UK players might have an issue with getting any funds out now?

Yep, all withdrawals blocked. Latest statement from Alderney Gambling Control Commission: http://www.gamblingcontrol.org/userfile ... 290611.pdf

these licensees must from today
cease to:-
 Register new customers;
 Accept deposits from existing customers;
 Allow existing customers to withdraw funds that are held in their accounts; and
 Permit customers to participate in any form of poker game play or gambling
transaction

Sad to see this happen, but not surprised given the last two months of activities. Does the gaming commission have rights to freeze their accounts and force cashouts?

Yea no one can even log into the software now. Guess I've ran pretty good by withdrawing and receiving all my roll a couple of weeks back but this obviously sucks for people with funds on there. The bottom line is I just don't think FTP has the money left to pay the US.

Technically my funds aren't in my account, and have been somewhere in the ether for a month. I've sent them another email, but it's more out of curiosity to see if they reply than out of hope that the money will ever turn up. I feel sorry for those who have lost substantial amounts; it's shocking that such a large business can have been so poorly run.

I am f*cked big time. This is the absolute worst case possible for me. My complete remaining bankroll was on Full Tilt. Now I can't play anymore or even withdraw funds to pay my bills.

This blows big time for the Euro guys obviously.

Personally I just hope this speeds up the process of finding out whether I'm getting my money or not. US FTP players have been getting the world's longest slowroll ever.

I only started winning the past month!

It's still early to see what is happening here. The licence is suspended and not withdrawn - there is a difference.

Unfortunately I didn't. I only withdrew about 10k and left the big chunk of my BR there to keep playing. Now I know that this was a disastrous move. I can probably get by for about 3 more months with the money in my bank account and maybe I will already have found a job until then.

Looks like Dwan finally has doubts, "Some pretty objective ppl who's opinions I respect are worried now that FT can't payout or find a buyer. Me too more I think about it".

I'm normally the last person with a "sky is falling" perspective on anything - but I'm sure this is the end, it's just a question of aftermath :(

The Commission's media statement also states that the action was taken 'in the public interest'. Could be that this is to protect players' interests? Don't give up just yet.
