Any place to play/Live NL ring advice

Postby Voter » Nov 28 2011

Voter's back, although I don't know if anyone remembers me. If you do, I hope you don't hold grudges! ;)

Anyways, I haven't played in awhile and have the itch. Is there anywhere Americans can play these days? I had fifty bucks or so at UB, is that gone?

I also have a casino nearby now with a poker room. But, the main game played there is 1-3 NL. I've always played limit ring and NL tourney. I have no clue how to play no limit ring. Any suggestions and/or links on where I can get some good info?

Thanks!

Cheers Voter

Tired of Tea party rallies already or don’t you hang out with liberals ?

Live poker:
Ed Miller and Harrington both have excellent books on NL strategy. Note that live often plays vastly different than online, especially at the lowest level offered. Mostly because the skill difference between players are much wider than you typically will find online. Learn to sort the clueless from the skilled and adjust properly. Easy

I'll let Prim's TEA Party bashing pass and get on with the goodies. ;)

Playing NL live especially at the lower buy-ins/limits can cause what's left of your hair to fall out. People really think bluffing is the key, but nut peddling is the answer. When you start cataloging the players, you can start opening up against the good players and continue to nut-peddle the bad players. I was losing buy-ins until I figured it out. Basically it plays liek you'd expect NL2 or 4 to play online.

The higher games in FL and NL are much better.

Where are you planning on playing live?

Hey Voter!

I think the Miller books on low-limit NL are really good for the casino setting you describe. I don't nut peddle, but I definitely try to identify what people will call with and value-bet them to death. Against some people, two pair is the nuts and you can bet accordingly.
