New Dimat release - The Math of HoldemDimat is pleased to announce that our next release will be The Math of Holdem by Collin Moshman and Doug Zare. We're looking at an April release. We'll post more about the book during the next month.
Matthew "It's not about the hand you put your opponent on, it's about how you think he will play that hand."
Re: New Dimat release - The Math of HoldemSounds good Matthew. As a not-particularly-math-minded player I found Odds and Probabilities a great read, looking forward to this.
Re: New Dimat release - The Math of HoldemI wonder what happened to this book when 2plus2 announced they would not be publishing it. Congrats on being the publisher.

Re: New Dimat release - The Math of HoldemHello!
Did it make the May 25 release? I pre-Order the book and just curious when I expect to receive the book Rigo
Re: New Dimat release - The Math of HoldemThe book ships from the printer May 31st so we should start shipping orders around June 3rd or so.
Thanks, Matthew "It's not about the hand you put your opponent on, it's about how you think he will play that hand."
Re: New Dimat release - The Math of HoldemA poster over at [that which shall remain nameless] brings up the point about there being a lot of books, including your own, that cover this subject. What, besides the authors, sets this one apart? What did you read that made you say, "I want to publish this."?

Re: New Dimat release - The Math of HoldemThe Math of Hold'em is really the only intermediate to advanced book on this topic out there. I consider Texas Hold'em Odds and Probabilities more of a beginner to intermediate book. The Math of Poker is more of a doctorate level type of book targeted to probably less than 5% of poker players. The Math of Hold'em covers a lot of topics that your everyday serious player will find informative. There is a chapter on game theory which is the best I have seen on the topic. Our resident poster, Poker Elmo, teaches game theory at a university and reviewed the chapter and thought it was excellent. If you look at the Table of Contents, you'll find a lot of topics not covered by most other "poker math" books. I'm looking forward to hearing some customer feedback.
The book ships from our printer today so should start shipping to customers by end of week or early next week. Matthew "It's not about the hand you put your opponent on, it's about how you think he will play that hand."
Re: New Dimat release - The Math of HoldemEven though I had math courses at the college level, that was a long time ago and don't consider myself a math guy, but I am looking forward to this book.

Re: New Dimat release - The Math of Holdem
The math isn't that complex. There are some parts where they get into the formulas, but this is a very practical hands-on poker book. Matthew "It's not about the hand you put your opponent on, it's about how you think he will play that hand."
Re: New Dimat release - The Math of HoldemWOOTAH!!! My copy in the mailbox today. Looking forward to reading it!
