Keeping busy then Matthew...

Someone should write a book on satellite strategy.

Seems to be an unexplored area and I haven't seen it covered in any books that I have read to date.

Looking forward to.

No-Limit Hold’em Tournament Strategy: Expert Strategies for Live and Online Play by Eric “Rizen” Lynch and myself. This will be collaboration similar to how Pie and I worked together on TPM where Eric does most of the writing and I provide input/feedback from start to finish on the project. 2010.

Is it possible to have some small stakes tournament hand examples for online play in the book? If i play a tournament im playing the $11.00 ones.

Im not sure how different the $11 ones i play from the ones that Rizen normally plays online $55-$250?

Thanks

I'm not sure what stakes we'll use. But at the end of the day, a book should teach you how to think and react to your opponents, and then you use this knowledge based on your own given situation. HAving said this, there are different approaches one might use in a small buy-in tourney vs. a $100 rebuy and we'll likely discuss this.

Winning Poker Tournanments One Hand at a Time, Vol 2

Postby LorenzoB » Dec 16 2009

Hi Matthew,

It is good to see that there is finally a release date for Vol 2. I found Vol 1 very instructive, but have been struggling in the late going.

Thanks,

Hi Lorenzo, I've updated our publishing plans. Winning Poker Tournaments should be out in February.

Oddly I was looking for material on this today and found almost nothing. Tom McEvoy has a book out on it but it doesnt review well at all.
The fish are in the river, so you need to get there as often as possible.

Not sure there would be enough material for a full book on satellite strategy. I might discuss with Rizen to see if he has much to say on the topic as we could include in the book he hopes to get out in 2011.

I have WPT 1, and it's excellent. Looking forward to WPT 2 to read about end game strategy. Just curious - what will WPT 3 focus on?

Volume III will be like the 20 collaborative hands in Volume I, except this time they will all be hands ITM (and a lot more than 20). We're still playing around with the following idea, but I may be providing my own comments for each hand that will basically summarize the "lessons learned" based on the comments of the other three.

Most of the feedback from Volume I on the collaborative hands was very positive and there really wasn't room to do this justice in Volume II so we decided to go for more hands and make it a 3rd volume.

I plan on purchasing both of the new PLO books by Jeff Hwang.

Will there be a deal for ordering both?

I was just emailed by amazon to preorder $35/book. When will preorder be available on ITH?

Best,
Spike

You should check out Kill Everyone by Lee Nelson, Tysen Streib, Kim Lee.

It has a chapter on satellite play. Very good book overall IMO.

If you decide to get it. Purchace the latest edition. It will have Elky giving his comments throughout the book.
