Is The Bankroll Calculator Broken?

Postby StarlightCoast » Apr 30 2009

Have 15 hours of table time recorded. My earn rate is 49 cents per hour. Yeah I know it sucks, but been running card dead a lot. Anyway, my std deviation is 1.36 and i chose 5% risk of ruin. Since i put in dollar amounts the required bankroll it gives me is in dollars. That foolish thing told me 5.6539.

$5 bankroll for playing .25/.50. That's insane.

I don't think it's broken, I think your SD is "off". I pulled my 1/2 stats at Stars from way back (I don't play limit much) and my win rate over ~300 hours is .15BB/hr with a SD of 10.16BB/hr. So I think you're just looking at a sample size where the SD has been unrealistically small, or the SD isn't being calculated properly in the first place. Maybe someone with a little more info on hwo PT figures SD can chime in as well.
