Thanks guys for all the railing! What can I say, for all the cards I didn't get Day 1, I more than made up for it today. Was simply one of those days where almost everything worked out. The two times I slowplayed big pairs preflop, KK and QQ, I flopped a set.

My AA vs KK hand was a gift. I really thought he had aces too. EP raiser, villian 3-bets to 4,200 or so, I pop it to 16K. He pops it to 30K. Now what? I just decide to push and he calls off 80K in chips with KK.

Had aces 3-4 times, KK 5 times, AK 8 or 9 times. Just the complete opposite from Day 1. A lot of my postflop plays seemed to work a lot also. I hit several of my free cards when drawing thin. Was a great table to chip up at and I always felt like I knew where I was at. I don't think I ever dipped down more than 15K during the entire day which is pretty incredible.

On to Day 3!

Matthew

Over 1000 people busted today. Sad we had two people amongst them. Sounds like Matthew is 'dominating' though!

Matthew is listed on the Tao of Poker blog in Pauly's notable players in the top 100. I like Pauly because he recognizes Matthew and has mentioned him a couple times in his blog over the years. I think Pauly's blog gets pretty big traffic so you might not be flying under the radar as much on Day 3 Matthew. Hopefully pokernews starts updating your stack and maybe reporting a hand or two.

Wow, what a day. Yanks was nice enough to not bother you with the fact that I became sick yesterday morning. I was feeling pretty poor as the afternoon wore on but I made some very nice plays. My alertness was definitely a problem. As we got to hour 6 and I was moved into the Amazon room at Cole South's table I was feverish and felt awful. I still felt I had it pretty well together, but I was so drained and achy that who knows. My push with the AKo, creating that huge pot, was a mistake. I did exactly what I preach against.....being too aggro without sufficient reads on the flatting villain. I have a feeling that I wouldn't have done that if healthy but we'll never know. Now I was down to 10bbs and it was dinner time. Matthew and Yanks invited me to dinner with them. I respectfully declined. I didn't want to infect them. Matthew offered me his room but I didn't want to infect that either. I had been drinking water like there was no tomorrow, no food, and I went to my car, but the seat down, and let the A/C blow on me. My temperature broke and I was sweating like a pig. Felt much much better. I doubled up immediately upon my return after dinner, as yanks said, but then I was completely card dead for almost two hours. In fact the whole day. Never had AA, KK, QQ and the one JJ I had....lost the pot. Anyway the fever returned. Finally I put my last chips in with 6BBs left and lost. Shouldn't have been in that one either but I think I was really finally out of it by then. That was 15 minutes before we, errr they, bagged up.

It was memorable and I feel really good about handling this type of situation. Getting sick was rotten timing but that's life. More enthusiastic about my play than ever. Took this young 2+2er/pocket fiver to the cleaners in Seat 4 at my first table. Really felt great. Player to my right at my first table, supposedly superb player, made me feel good. He seemed to play exactly like I do. :D

Good luck to the Saturday runners today!

Damn Chris very unfortunate to pick up a bug during the ME, but you handled it with your usual intelligence and grace. Next year.

Pauly is actually a pretty big fan of Matthew's. I introduced them at the Borgata Open one year and Pauly and I had a reasonably long conversation about Matthew and his books. Pauly was very complementary of his books and about Matthew's demeanor in general.

That is a bad beat indeed. Sorry to hear about that -- hope you are feeling better so that you can provide minute by minute updates from the rail!

Feeling much better today, thank you. Still drained and sleeping a lot. I may make it down there at dinner time depending. Should be 100% by Monday.

Sorry to hear you've been ill. . . bummer. It is exhausting just to play 12 hr/day, but to have a fever on top must be brutal. You'll get em next year
