Ok, first off, quite possibly the unfriednliest bloke you'll ever play with, did not say a word, and I mean a word until the day ended, at which point he started picking a fight with the guy on my left (Sears) who had been trying to talk to him for some time. However it's everyone's right to keep to themselves, so I'll give him half a pass on that.

Specifically during play though

1. chips - He won a lot of the 25s & 100s early on, making change short on the rest of the table, he refused at any point, even on dealer request, to change up for anyone, so we had a constant passing of chips round the table betweeen the rest of us

3. count - He pushed all in late in the day when down to about 8k-ish, his chips were basically stacked vertically all in one stack, so the player asked how much more it was (he had opened), Slotboom totally ignored him, the dealer then reached across to cut down the chips, at which point he says "he doesn't need a count". Erm, well yes he does, that's why he asked.

3. ruling - Again late in the day, blinds are 300/600 and Tzu opens in the cut off with Rolf in the BB, he (Tzu) announces "si....seven fifty" and it's folded to him, which he challenges. Now he is right here, the bet is 600 and a min raise, initially the TD gets it wrong, and after some more arguing the TD makes the correct ruling, it's 600 to go. Slotboom insta folds. WTF was the need for the ruling?

This was taken on Day 3 by Tikay, who posted on his Sky poker blog "How many chips you playing, Rolf? I soooooo wanna knock that stupid stack over. ;) "

The Tic Tacs are permanently on top, I know that's not a real reason to criticise, but it all adds up

There was a thread some time ago on 2+2 about Rolf acting like an idiot at the WSOP, but I can't find it any more. I think it involved acting stupid when involved in all-ins, but there may have been more to it. I just remember mentally adding him to my jerk list.

I've never seen anyone refuse to make change for the dealer. That's quite odd.

Ah yes, I remember this being reported at the time...
I really hate his interviews in Cardplayer, he has absolutely NO sense of humour. My fave Slotboom story is a probably drunk Rory Liffey (Irish pro) very loudly (ie the whole room heard) taking the piss out of him in Deauville last year for putting himself on the cover of Cardplayer the first issue he took over as editor. Very funny. How humourless and arrogant do you have to be to put yourself on the cover?!

And he does this too....
I chipped back to 14,000, when I opened UTG+1 with AsKc to 1300. It folded around to the SB, who went into the tank, and I mean really went into the tank. Three minutes passed without him doing much of anything besides quietly move his mouth, apparently doing math.
>>

He whispered something to the dealer, who made him repeat himself twice. I asked the dealer what he had said, and he said “the player says he is allin.”

He is a very strange dude indeed, I'd heard he was very unpopular in Holland too, as that thread seems to suggest.

Nothing wrong with being quiet, I'm quiet at the table, Madsen barely said a word all day, but then there's the deliberate blanking of everyone even when you're not playing at the time.

All part of the fun though

Love the way Slotboom is called out for being an idiot but nothing is mentioned for Humberto. Was he upstaged in the idiot stakes for the first time ever?

I've never played against Slotboom, but Humberto yes. I played in Craps tournaments in the Bahamas against him way back before he got into poker tournaments.

Played against him three times now at the Rio in the last few years. I really don't like Humberto's shark nonsense, but he didn't do it much at my table. Given what has been said here my guess is that Rolf is worse. I guess it depends upon whether Brenes is showboating for TV.

When you watch the other players at the table with them, people rarely seem to be upset by Humberto. I would say that mildly annoyed is about the worst of it. If you look at tables with Hellmuth or Devilfish or Tony G you can almost always find more than one player who is clearly deeply angry at them.

Humberto was a decent guy to have at the table, in fact he showed quite a bit of humour considering what is his poor standard of English.
