205 advance to Day 6....

Postby chrisjp » Jul 15 2010

and 204 of them have never folded to a 3-bet preflop in this tournament. The one who has will undoubtedly win it.

The amazing carnage continues. Blinds just went up yet the average stack is over 70BBs. It has been up in that range for quite a while.

They lost over 60% of the field--63% actually. The aggression is absolutely amazing, unless you were around for last year. Half of the survivors will try to win it tomorrow again.

Wow....

Geez, bond18 went from chipleader with 1.8 million or so down to short stack yesterday. Must have been ugly.

I hope Galfond goes deep. Johnny Chan would be good for ratings but because he is rumored to be such an ass I'm not too sure where I stand on rooting for him.

There's a decent number of internet wiz kids left... I don't mind rooting them on for the most part, Kostritsyn, Roothlus, Eric Baldwin, Galfond, Lodden.

Robert and Michael Mizrachi are in... the Mizrachi clan have been a decent story so far this WSOP.

Dunnno who I'm rooting for but hopefully by the time we are down to 9 there are at least 1 or 2 familar faces at the FT.

I just noticed that Kostritsyn has now cashed 3 ME's in a row. With some of his other wins his live resume is quite impressive to go along with some major online scores. I suspect this kid has game.

I played about 6 hours with Kostritsyn on Day Three - he played really well. Unrelenting controlled aggression. Very impressed. Hope he makes the final table. Seems like a nice kid too.

Is the story about Kostritsyn coming from a dirt poor family and running up his millions from him and 4 buddies putting up $10 each for the $50 miniumum deposit true?

If so I feel like I should be rooting for him, rags to riches story and all that.

Haven't heard that story... just know he is an MTT beast. Won Aussie Millions ME and WCOOP ME, few other deep finishes.

Just found an ESPN article on the story so I guess it's likley to be true.

JRB getting a lot of love online today. He's on the front page of espn.com and has a decent number of well known followers.

Strange times indeed. He took a pretty Nasty beat yesterday with AA < KK all in pre so short today, if he makes it to the final 3 tables he'll be a major story for sure.

Long way yet though.

ESPN will likely focus now on Grinder and JRB. They will already have a family story with 4 brothers cashing plus he won the PC and had several other deep finishes. I hope Kostritsyn dresses like the Russian Neil Diamond at some point like he did at the FT of Aussie Millions. There are also still two former ME final table participants left also.
